Tucked away in the heart of historic Smithfields, St. Barts is fast becoming one of the best restaurants in Smithfields. With a well-earned Michelin star and a commitment to sustainable, modern British cuisine, St. Barts offers an unforgettable gastronomic experience that food lovers cannot miss. Whether you’re local to the area or visiting from afar, this restaurant is a shining example of why Smithfields is now firmly on the culinary map.
A Unique Culinary Journey
At St. Barts, dining is not just a meal – it’s an immersive journey through the best of British produce. Each dish tells a story, with ingredients sourced from trusted farmers, gamekeepers, foragers and day-boat fishermen across the country.
The team’s approach to food is thoughtful and intentional, embracing age-old techniques like curing, smoking and fermentation to elevate ingredients while letting their natural quality shine through.
A Restaurant with Heart and Heritage
St. Barts is the brainchild of three friends and long-time collaborators: Johnnie Crowe, Luke Wasserman, and Toby Neill. Our journey began with the much-loved Nest in Hackney and later Nest Farmhouse in Norfolk. With St. Barts, we’ve created a space that’s more than just a restaurant – it’s a reflection of our shared values, friendships, and a genuine love for great food made the right way.
The restaurant is located in a Grade II-listed building in Bartholomew Close, just a stone’s throw from the iconic St Bartholomew the Great – London’s oldest surviving church. The views alone make the experience special, but it’s the warmth and sincerity of the service that truly make guests feel welcome.
A Space Designed with Nature in Mind
Step inside St. Barts, and you’ll find an interior that mirrors the natural world the food so proudly celebrates. Wood, stone and soft textures create a soothing, minimalist atmosphere. Tables are crafted by hand from London Plane trees, a nod to local craftsmanship and sustainability. The open kitchen allows guests to see the chefs at work, bringing a sense of transparency and connection to the dining experience.
Even the tableware tells a story – many pieces are made in collaboration with British ceramicists like Adrian Gonzales, whose work draws inspiration from the coastline and countryside. It’s these little details that elevate St. Barts from a fine-dining restaurant to a deeply personal and thoughtful experience.
Wine, Cocktails and Beyond
Our Drinks List offers a selection of classic cocktails with a British twist, local beers, natural cider, premium spirits and an extensive wine list. The list focuses on low-intervention wines from both well-renowned domaines and exciting artisanal producers and was awarded Best Short List of the Year Globally in February 2023 by Star Wine List. We serve optional drink pairings to accompany the experience. The Wine Pairings contain sparkling wine, white wine, red wine, dessert wine and/or digestive.
